Hanyang, Wuhan. A scatter of oranges rests on mud by the water that reflects only concrete and gloomy sky. As the spring festival ends, tokens of good fortune are reduced to waste, unpeeled and slowly decaying on barren ground. In this dry basin, the fruit looks like an intrusion. Yet looking up at the concrete slabs crowding the horizon, it is difficult to decide which presence is truly the alien one.
